The hand was made as an exercise in electro mechanics.

The initial plan was to use muscle wire to make the digits operate, and a number of test beds were made to try and get muscle wire to work.

One of the problems with the muscle wire was the length needed to make the finger move fully meant it needed wrapping round multiple times. This produces two problems muscle wire doesn't like being bend nor is it insulated so to make it work each strand needed to be held separate.
The final build had with laser engraved back and blue led illumination.
